Surveillance video taken from the home of Torrero, located at the intersection, shows the suspect vehicle broadside the black pickup truck, sending both vehicles hurtling into a retaining wall of a nearby residence. The pickup truck landed upright while the allegedly stolen car ended up on its roof.
Area resident, Alex Gastelum, the homeowner whose front lawn the vehicles landed, was left stunned after having witnessed the crash.
“I panicked. I have a dog. I freaked out,” Gastelum told ABC reporter Josh Haskel.
Authorities say that two of the suspects were trapped inside the overturned vehicle and had to be extricated. A third suspect attempted to flee the scene but was later apprehended by Los Angeles Police Department officers and placed under arrest.
The driver of the pickup truck was injured in the crash but is currently listed in stable condition. No police officers were hurt in the crash during the high-speed pursuit.
Investigators with the Los Angeles Police Department are still trying to determine how fast the suspect vehicle was traveling when the crash occurred.
No further information has been released at this time.
