Officers from the California Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision near Ramona last week that left two people dead.
Fox 5 in San Diego reports that the crash happened in East County on Wednesday, June 10th, at approximately 12:20 p.m. The scene of the accident was Mussey Grade Road near the intersection of Ardees Way just outside of Ramona.
According to the CHP, a 2016 Ford Focus being driven by a 56-year-old woman was heading northbound on Musey Grade Road at a high rate of speed when she lost control of her vehicle. The Ford crossed into the southbound lanes to collide head-on with a 2017 Subaru Impreza.
Cal Fire’s San Diego Unit Tweeted that the occupants in one of the vehicles were trapped and that an air ambulance had been called to the crash site.
The driver of the Ford Focus and a male passenger in the Subaru died at the scene of the accident. Their identities had not been released at the time of the report.
The female driver of the Subaru suffered severe injuries and was airlifted by helicopter to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido. Authorities did not release her identity or her current condition.

Officials said the investigation revealed that both the driver and the passenger inside the Subaru had been wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident. The driver of the Ford Focus was not wearing her seatbelt at the time. Authorities have not mentioned if substances were a factor in the accident.
