Long Beach Local News has revealed that an arrest was made in connection with a fatal crash involving a guard shack.
Police have arrested Moreno Valley resident Quentin Darnell Black. He has been charged with one count of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and one count of felony hit-and-run resulting in death and injury.
The report states that on Saturday afternoon, officers were called to the 2000 block of San Gabriel Avenue about the hit-and-run collision. A vehicle struck a security guard shack and hurt the guard inside.
Despite life-saving efforts by officers and paramedics, the guard died at the scene of the crash. Further investigation revealed that a 2012 Chevy Tahoe was speeding, lost control, and hit the shack. The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot before he was caught by the authorities.
We wish to extend our sincere condolences to the family of the slain security officer. By all appearances, this accident appears to have been caused by negligence of the driver. We all have a duty of care to each other while driving so we all stay safe on the roads.
Clearly, if this evidence is true, this duty of care was breached. Furthermore, by running away from the accident, the blame falls squarely on the driver’s shoulders according to the law.
