One person is dead and another severely injured after a horrific crash along the 5 Freeway north of the 210 Freeway near Sylmar late Wednesday night, July 17th.
KTLA Channel 5 in Los Angeles reported on an accident on the 5 Freeway when a semi-tractor trailer rig struck the reinforced concrete bridge support in the truck bypass lane. Authorities estimate that the accident happened at approximately 11:45 p.m.
The inertia from the collision caused the load of grapes that the truck was hauling to shift forward and trap the two people who were inside the cab of the truck. The force of impact also loosened concrete from the support pillar and spilled grapes onto the freeway.
