A hit and run crash on Monday has resulted in a 39-year-old man in Los Angeles left critically injured. Law enforcement officials are trying to find the suspect as well as the man’s surviving family members. Police are now turning to the public for help.
KTLA in Los Angeles reported on Monday, December 16th, that the fatal crash happened in South Los Angeles in the Florence neighborhood at about 11:30 PM on Friday, December 13th.
The Los Angeles Police Department said in a written statement to the media that Jose Artega, 39, was crossing the intersection of Central Avenue and 67th Street when he was struck by a dark-colored vehicle that was southbound.
Eyewitnesses at the scene describe the vehicle as a dark blue or black, four-door Kia. Police said that the driver of the car did not stop or render aid after hitting Artega, which the law requires them to do.
The LAPD and the City of Los Angeles are offering a $25,000 reward to anyone who has any information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the driver who was involved in the hit-and-run crash.
