Motorcycles provide a fun and economical mode of transportation for many Southern California residents. Most of the time, the area surrounding Los Angeles is blessed with nearly perfect weather that is perfect for motorcyclists and their passengers to enjoy the open road.
It doesn’t matter who you are or how much experience you have riding a motorcycle; getting into an accident can cause severe injury or death. NBC Los Angeles reported that an off-duty Long Beach police officer was killed while riding his motorcycle on his way to work on Thursday, June 4th.
According to the statement issued by the Long Beach Police Department, the fatal crash took place near the intersection of Ocean Boulevard and Esperanza Avenue at approximately 2:25 p.m.

The initial investigation of the crash reveals that 33-year-old Officer Anton Fischer was traveling eastbound on Ocean Boulevard when the driver of a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee made a left turn from 7th Place into the westbound lanes of Ocean Boulevard. Unable to stop his motorcycle, Officer Fischer collided into the side of the SUV.
Officer Fischer suffered significant injuries in the crash and was taken to an area hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. He later died as a result of the injuries he sustained in the crash.
The driver of the SUV remained at the scene of the crash and is cooperating with police.
Officer Fischer joined the Long Beach Police Department in 2017 and was assigned to the East Division’s Directed Enforcement Team.
The Simmrin Law Family would like to express our deepest condolences to the family and fellow officers of Officer Anton Fischer at this difficult time.
