Nico’s Pizza serves the Los Angeles area with quality street pizzas at an affordable price. As reported recently by KTLA5 News, on Saturday, December 26, Nicolas Valerio-Rodriguez, the owner and head pizza-maker, was baking a fresh pie in his mobile pizza stand, which was parked on the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Grand Avenue, as he’s done for the past year. It was around 9 p.m. when a car slammed into the trailer at 60+ miles per hour. Nicolas said it all happened so fast, but, thankfully, he wasn’t injured by the collision.
As for his stepson, it is a different story. He suffered injuries all over his body, and, as a result, he had to be rushed to the emergency room in serious condition. The Los Angeles Fire Department also reports that another person was injured in the crash.
Valrio-Rodriguez is no stranger to tragedy. The pandemic cost him his job last year. Without income, the family poured all the saving into setting up their own business. Over the last several months, they have received numerous positive reviews on websites like Yelp. And now that livelihood has been destroyed in the blink of an eye.
