Fox 11 Los Angeles has reported two people died and one person was injured after a car drove into a pool in Chino.
Around 2:30 a.m., the Chino Valley Fire District and Chino Police Department came to a home on Alicia Way near East End Avenue after a report of a crash.
The responders found an orange Chevrolet Corvette in pieces in the pool and three victims ejected from the vehicle. One was already dead at the scene. The suspected driver was taken to the hospital, but also died. The other passenger is still recovering at the hospital.
Police believe that speed was a factor in the crash. The posted speed limit in the area is 15 mph. They believe the car was speeding west on Shafer Avenue and failed to make a turn, went airborne, crashed into a wall, and hit the pool.
“It was a big old crash. I heard ‘bang,’ and I looked outside my window and I saw something in the pool. I wasn’t sure what it was,” a neighbor said.
The local residents also said that speeding is an ongoing issue in the area. Police are still conducting their investigation.
We wish to extend our condolences to the victims.
