A family in Anaheim was ruled awakened when a Maserati, believed to be stolen, crashed into their home on Monday night.
The Orange County Register reports that the crash happened just after 11:00 p.m. on Monday, September 9th in a residential neighborhood on North Acacia Street. Authorities say that an SUV pulled out in front of the Maserati, causing the driver to veer off the road and crash into an apartment building located at the intersection of North Acacia Street and Canfield Streets.
Sgt. Steve Pena, spokesperson for the Anaheim Police Department, told reporters that there had been a family sleeping inside the building at the time of the crash. Luckily, however, no one who was inside at the time was injured.
The driver of the Maserati was being held at the scene by police. Further investigation indicated that the luxury automobile had been dropped off for maintenance at a dealership in Fullerton. Police believe that the Maserati was taken without authorization from that location.
A building assessment performed by members of the Anaheim Fire Department determined that the home could not be occupied due to structural damage from the crash. Sgt. Pena said that the family would be staying with relatives who live nearby.
As of Tuesday, police have not made an arrest. The incident is still currently under investigation.
