The Los Angeles Police Department is in a state of mourning after one of their own has been declared dead, this happening only a few days after that same officer was hit by a car and taken to the hospital in critical condition, according to this report from the KTLA 5 website.
The officer, a 10-year veteran, had served the South-Central area of South Los Angeles. He’s spent a good deal of his career in the Newton Division. He is survived by his wife and mother, among other family members.
This crash occurred last Friday evening at about 7:30 P.M. near the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Trinity Street. The driver of the car that hit the officer remained on the scene and cooperated with the police. Officials are saying that this looks to be an honest accident. No charges were filed.

Police Department Chief, Michel Moore said in a statement, “His Passing is a loss not only for his brothers and sister in the LAPD but for the people of Los Angeles for whom he gave his life.”
