Defensive driving starts with a premise that other vehicles may move unpredictably. Therefore, drivers must keep a close eye on what’s happening around them. It only takes one situation like the one in today’s story to make the extra caution worth it. Fox 5 San Diego reports.
The crash happened in San Marcos last Tuesday around 5 p.m. A 51-year-old driver died when his car suddenly veered off of westbound SR-78 and hit a Chevrolet Express van. The impact pushed the car into the air. Before it came to a stop, it had crashed into four parked vehicles, a chain-link fence, and two trees before resting on its roof.
The driver was still in his vehicle when local witnesses flipped the car back over and got the driver out. He was killed at the scene. The driver of the van was uninjured.

Only the driver will know for sure why he suddenly steered into the path of the van. The report did not say if any security cameras recorded the incident. Whatever the reason was, he paid for it with his life. Our condolences go out the driver’s family and we hope the police can find out the reason why this happened.
Please stay attentive on the roadways. If you see a car acting erratically, do your best to stay away, then contact the police when it is safe to do so.
