Los Feliz residents are furious with the Los Angeles Police Department because they say officers let a suspected DUI driver walk away after he hit three parked vehicles on Thursday.
According to the story appearing on the website for CBS Local in Los Angeles, eyewitnesses to the incident on Saturday say a driver of a Dodge Charger was attempting to make a left turn from Los Feliz Boulevard onto Hillhurst Avenue, causing significant damage to the three vehicles.
Resident Kat Wicker took cellphone video footage of the driver of the Charger getting out and stumbling into a nearby grass median.
“He was completely intoxicated the entire time,” Wicker told CBS reporters, saying that it was apparent to everyone who was in the vicinity. “He was yelling aggressive comments at the police officers, at the ambulance that was there, at the tow truck driver, and he literally stumbled away.”
Wicker and others say that officers responding to the accident did not administer any field sobriety or Breathalyzer test to the alleged drunk driver. As soon as the LAPD officers left the scene of the accident, the man walked away.

Area residents and reporters asked the Los Angeles Police Department why the man was not given any sobriety tests or cited in the incident. The law enforcement agency said that they leave it to the officers to make the call of whether or not to conduct sobriety tests.
Los Feliz residents are understandably upset by the lack of response on the part of the LAPD.
Wicker knows the owner of one of the vehicles damaged in the accident. While Wicker is grateful that no one was killed in the accident, she believes things could have been much worse. “He could have injured people. He could have done a lot more damage than he did.”
