Going to the salon to be pampered at the end of a long week is supposed to be relaxing. For two men and a woman at a hair salon in Sawtelle on Friday, the experience was anything but restful.
The Canyon News reports that the crash happened on Friday, October 16, in the 11600 Block of Santa Monica Boulevard, near Federal Avenue at approximately 4:15 p.m.
According to Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey, the building that housed the salon suffered extensive damage to the walls and foundation and is now considered structurally compromised.
Authorities say that three people who were inside the building at the time were injured in the crash. Two of the victims had to be extricated from the debris of the building. Officials had not said whether the three people were inside the business or the vehicle when the crash happened.
All three were taken to an area hospital for treatment. Their identities, extent of their injuries, and current condition had not been released at the time of the report.
So far, investigators are uncertain what led to the incident or whether impairment by alcohol or drugs may have been a factor in the crash. Officials have not released any further information about the driver who crashed their vehicle into the salon.
City building authorities are expected to inspect the building to determine if other businesses inside the structure may also be affected.
The accident is currently under investigation.
