No one likes to see another person suffer, especially after being in an accident. One New York woman found this out when she ended up under an SUV nearly a dozen Good Samaritans came to her aid to free her.
CBS News reports that a woman had been crossing the street in New York City when a dark SUV ran over her, and she became trapped underneath the vehicle.
Veronika, the woman from Queens who requested her last name not be used in the CBS report, told reporters that she had been crossing the intersection at Delancey and Norfolk Streets on the evening of Sunday, January 25th when the large SUV made a right turn, struck, and then ran over her. Veronika’s legs were underneath the tires of the vehicle. She said she was frightened, but must have been in shock at the time.

Eyewitnesses to the situation said that more than 10 Good Samaritans, all of them strangers, came from all directions to tip the SUV on its right side just enough so that they could free Veronika out from under the car. One of the eyewitnesses, Colby Droscher, captured the entire scene on video showing the heroism of those who rushed to help.
The driver of the vehicle, a 65-year-old woman, stayed at the scene of the crash. Officers from the New York Police Department cited her for failing to yield to a pedestrian.
Veronika was taken by ambulance to a local hospital where she was treated for several bruises and a minor concussion. She is expected to be ok and is grateful to those who reached out to help in her time of need.
“My main reaction is that I am just unbelievably grateful for everyone who came straight away and helped,” Veronika said. “They are really the reason I am okay.”
