Even as children, many people wonder what it might be like to drive a luxury sports car. Experiencing the thrill of driving something that powerful is a lifelong dream that few people get to realize. On Monday, May 20th, however, the Press-Enterprise reports that such a dream turned into a nightmare when a couple purchased a brand new 2019 blue Lamborghini Huracan for $320,000 and got into an accident.
The California Highway Patrol said the accident happened at North Vernon Avenue located near the Soboba Springs Country Club at approximately 8:30 p.m. when the driver of the Lamborghini, Jose Jovel, 35, of San Jacinto, accompanied by his wife, was traveling eastbound on the Ramona Expressway.
The driver of a Chevy Tahoe, Jose Suarez, 38, also from San Jacinto, stopped his vehicle at a stop sign at the intersection of Alessandro Avenue then attempted to make a left turn on to Ramona. The Lamborghini broadsided the driver’s side of the Tahoe.

Emergency crews from Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department along with the California Highway Patrol responded at the scene. Both drivers were listed in critical condition. Jovel was reported to have a broken leg, while Jovel’s wife, who was a passenger in the Lamborghini, suffered a minor head injury in the crash. No other information has been released about Suarez, the driver of the Tahoe.
Investigators are still trying to determine why the accident occurred. The Lamborghini had its headlights on, and neither impairment nor speed played a role in the crash.
