A wild incident happened over the weekend involving a box truck on the PCH and several hit-and-runs. The Malibu Patch site reported on the story yesterday. Here’s the latest.
On Sunday evening, drivers on the PCH said that a 20-foot unmarked box truck was speeding down the highway and weaving between vehicles. The driver had already hit several of them and failed to stop. Deputies attempted to perform a traffic stop and the driver refused. That started a 40-minute chase down the highway.

The chase came to an end in Somis when the truck and a car crashed hard enough to end up on opposite sides of the highway in the ditches. The driver of the truck refused to get out of the vehicle for an hour before he was finally apprehended. He’s been accused of DUI and hit-and-run. There was no word about the condition of the other drivers hit in the incident.
Later, investigators discovered a passenger managed to escape the truck in Malibu after the driver tried to attack him with a knife.
Police are seeking more information from the public about the incident. If you have more information, please contact the Malibu-Lost Hills Sherriff’s Station.
There are sections of the PCH where this incident could have been much worse. There are sections of the highway where there’s nothing between you and the cliffs but a guard rail.
