A hit-and-run crash in Echo Park on Monday morning has left a woman dead and her husband severely injured. The Los Angeles Police Department is looking for the driver responsible for the crash and is asking for the public’s help.
According to the story reported by the NBC affiliate in Los Angeles, Police are offering a $50,000 reward for anyone with information that can lead to the arrest and conviction of the driver that struck and killed Morena Del Carmen Alvarado-Lopez, 58 and left her husband, Juan Bahena, 71, with severe injuries.
The LAPD said in a statement that the crash happened near the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and White Knoll Road just before 1:00 A.M. after the couple had just left Club Bahia. Surveillance camera video taken from outside the club shows Alvarado-Lopez and Bahena leaving the establishment at approximately 12:50 A.M.
Shortly after leaving, video taken from the scene shows a dark red or burgundy four-door sedan hit the couple near the intersection near West Sunset Boulevard.
The couple was dragged 50 feet by the sedan before the driver stopped their vehicle. The driver then fled the scene a few moments later.

The couple was taken to County, University of Southern California Medical Center. Alvarado-Lopez died a short time after arrival as a result of the injuries that she suffered in the crash. Her husband, Juan, suffered severe injuries. No further information about his current condition has been released.
Authorities are looking for a red or burgundy four-door sedan that will likely have significant front-end damage. The LAPD is asking anyone with any information about the vehicle or the driver to contact Detective Juan Campos at (213) 833-3713.
