A 21-year-old woman has been seriously injured and suffering from head trauma after she was struck by an SUV in Mira Mesa on Monday evening.
On Thursday, October 31st, The Times of San Diego reported that the vehicle-pedestrian crash happened in the 9900 block of Camino Ruiz, located near Carroll Canyon Road at approximately 6:40 p.m.

According to Sgt. Kevin Gibson, with the San Diego Police Department, a 2009 Lexus 350 SUV being driven by a 47-year-old woman was heading northbound on Camino Ruiz when a 20-year-old woman stepped out into the right lane of the roadway and into the path of the SUV. The driver was unable to stop in time to avoid the crash.
The young woman was transported to an area hospital for treatment of two broken femurs and significant head trauma. So far, authorities have not released the identity of the crash victim or any further information as to her current condition.
Sgt. Gibson told reporters in an official statement that the driver of the SUV stayed at the crash scene. Investigators do not believe that alcohol or drug impairment played any role in the crash.
No charges have vehicle-pedestrian against the driver at this time.
