Law enforcement officials say that this latest DUI crash reminds them of another recent crash which happened in almost the same area of Highway 180 in which Fresno Police Officer, Phia Vang, 48 was killed on February 4th. In the earlier fatal crash, a man who was also driving under the influence of alcohol drove his eastbound pickup truck into the westbound lanes of Highway 180. The driver collided with multiple vehicles before striking Vang’s pickup truck head-on.
Both Vang and the wrong-way driver in the February 4th crash were pronounced dead at the scene.
